身體自主

Katie VAJDA 香港藝術學院主修攝影 這是一個觀察在香港的建築環境中女性身體表現的作品。在社會化的過程之中，我們的身體也變成了表達行為符碼的場所。觀眾從這個系列中，可以看到物質空間是怎樣將人弄得理性化及感官麻木，現代的環境和生活模式如何令身體的知性都變得呆滯了。綜觀女性的家庭生活，原始的野性大致上都已經馴化了：日常秩序需要謹慎的思維與應變，不可能倚賴自然反應。這個作品背後的表演，是藉著將合作者的身體塗上白色粘土而造成一個實在的身體感觸經驗。塗上粘土的目的，就是要翻開和改變我的對象，發掘被埋藏了的真實或靈感，從而令身體產生回應當下的詩式舞姿。說到底，我想問的是：如果卸除了層層疊疊的論述抑制，我們會不會可以有瞬間釋放和喚醒那「身體自主」？In this work I am looking at the female body within the built environment of Hong Kong. Our socialisation involves the transformation of bodies into a location for, and expression of, codes of behaviour. This series looks at the rationalisation and sensory deprivation experienced in physical space and how modern environments and ways of life, work to numb bodily awareness. Contemplating the domestic life of women, the wild is quite often tamed, as strategic and routine thinking replaces immediacy of expression. The performance behind this work involves creating a tactile bodily experience by first painting my collaborator with white clay. I apply this layer in order to reveal, transforming my subject to find a covered truth or inspiration and to produce a poetic bodily response to the moment. Essentially I am questioning, if one removes the layers of discursive power, can we be momentarily released, awakening the ‘Body Domestic’?
