Janine Claase (1992 in South Africa) is aBFA graduate of Hong Kong Art Schoolwho has been based in Hong Kong forthe past decade. She creates textbased,photography, mixed media andperformance works in order to explore thedifferent possibilities and associationstriggered by the written or spoken word.She received special recognition as arecipient of the Reaching Out Award(2016/2017) and Outstanding PerformanceScholarship (2017/2018). Her soloexhibitions, consisting of performancepieces in both public and private settings,including Volition Moves (2018, HongKong), Choose Your Words (2017, HongKong) and Acts of Polarity (2017, HongKong). Other recent group shows includeSomewhere Out There (2018, Hong Kong)and Wosa Mzansi (2018, Hong Kong).
